Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem - who is also president of the Eurogroup - have reiterated in a joint letter to the Dutch parliament that the government's coalition agreement calls for countries to be given the formal right to opt out of individual EU policy areas, such as Schengen or the eurozone, or to opt out of the EU altogether (which was made possible under the Lisbon Treaty). In order to achieve this, they are calling for a revision of the EU treaties.
