Originally scheduled for February 9, the presentation of the European Commission's planned farm price package for the 2000/2001 marketing year has now been postponed until February 23, pending decisions about the year 2001 Preliminary Draft Budget. The budget policy debate has also been pushed back in time (see separate article, Section I). As the price package coincides with the first year in which the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) is due to be implemented, numerous farm produce prices are now under the sway of the Agenda 2000 programme.
