The Union's employment and social affairs ministers support the use of a separate and specific module of the Internal Market Information System (IMI) in the context of the posting of workers. In conclusions adopted on 7 March, they agreed that a secure electronic information exchange system is best suited to implement the provisions of Directive 96/71/EC on the posting of workers in the framework of the provision of services.

This system, which is already used to exchange information on professional qualifications and the Services Directive, is a secure online application that allows national, regional and local authorities to communicate easily and rapidly with other countries' authorities. The system is accessible via the internet and does not require the installation of any software.
