3 ITALIA BANKING ON MOBILE TELEVISION FOR SUCCESSFUL SHARE FLOTATION.

Mobile telephony operator 3 Italia, Italian subsidiary of the Hutchison Whampoa group (HWL), is counting on mobile television initiatives to ensure the success of its stock market flotation by the end of the year, Director Vincenzo Novari indicated on February 20. The operator finally abandoned a planned flotation in February owing to differences between banks advising the group and HWL over the company's value. "We aim to explain to the public and to operators that we are not just another mobile operator but a multimedia group combining television and third generation telephony", Mr Novari told la Repubblica. He indicated that 3 Italia aims shortly to have 6 million clients, compared with 5.5 million in the end of 2005.
