ABN AMRO VEHICLE LEASING SUBSIDIARY CLEARED TO TAKE OVER DIAL GROUP.

The European Commission approved on 16 June the acquisition by ABN Amro Lease Holding N.V. of the Dial Group in the vehicle leasing sector. The Commission's one-month review showed that the deal would not give rise to a dominant position, including in Spain where the combined entity's market share will be the highest in the European Union. The firms' business overlaps in the supply of vehicle leasing services. On the basis of the narrowest possible market definition, namely the national supply of operating leases for cars and light commercial vans, the only horizontally-affected market would be in Spain where the parties' combined market share would exceed 30%.
