ADECCO CLEARED TO TAKE OVER US EMPLOYMENT AGENCY OLSTEN.

The European Commission approved on October 29 a bid by the Swiss-based employment services company Adecco SA to take sole control over Olsten Corporation of the United States. Both companies are active in supplying temporary staff and Olsten's health services will not be part of the acquisition, the Commission said in a statement. The firms' activities overlap, however, in the supply of temporary and permanent employment services throughout the European Economic Area (EEA), the Commission found, while the combined share of the parties in permanent employment services are insignificant.
