ADELPHIA TO BUY FRONTIERVISION.

On March 6, the US Cable television operator Adelphia Communications Corp. of Pennsylvania, said it was buying Century Communications Corp., also of the US, for USD3.6 billion cash and stock, creating the fifth-largest US cable-TV company and further consolidating industry ownership. Several weeks earlier, Adelphia agreed to buy cable television firm FrontierVision Partners LP for Euro 1.9 billion (USD2.1 billion) in a cash, debt and stock deal.
