ADTRANZ WINS ROMANIAN ORDER.

The railway group Adtranz, a loss-making division of DaimlerChrysler, has won an order from Romania to supply Bucharest's underground system with 108 carriages. The order includes both the delivery of the vehicles as well as a signal system. The first carriage will be delivered at the end of 2001, with the rest delivered by Autumn 2002. The deal is worth about one billion Swedish Krona (USD116 million). Adtranz Sweden will be responsible for the deliveries, with most of the units manufactured at Vasteras and Kalmar factories.
