AGREEMENT IN CONCILIATION COMMITTEE ON SIMPLIFIED INTRASTAT SYSTEM.

Meeting in the context of the Conciliation Committee, representatives of the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers reached agreement on March 18 on a proposal for a Regulation amending the Intrastat system for exchange of data between Member States on trade in goods. This piece of legislation, subject to co-decision procedure, is one of the first brought forward by the Commission in the context of the SLIM initiative (Simplified Legislation in the Internal Market) launched in 1996.
