AGREEMENT ON RECYCLING END-OF-LIFE VEHICLES.

The Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Member States to the European Union (COREPER) reached agreement on July 22 on the terms of their common position on the proposal for Directive on the disposal and recycling of end-of-life vehicles. An agreement had been held up by the German Environment Minister at the last Environment Council on June 24. The latest agreement by the Ambassadors to the EU will be hammered into a common position, without further debate, at a forthcoming Council, probably in September.There is widespread agreement on the need to recycle vehicles once they have reached the end of their useful lives.
