AGRICULTURE: CAP REFORM, MILK AND PIGMEAT TOP PRIORITIES.

The communication on reform of the post-2013 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), proposals to create more balanced relations in the milk sector by using contracts between producers and processors, and the pigmeat sector are the top three agricultural priorities of the Hungarian EU Presidency.

Hungary will take forward the discussions on CAP reform begun in November and December by the Belgian EU Presidency by organising two policy debates in January and February on sustainable management of natural resources and climate measures and balanced territorial development. Budapest intends to draw up conclusions based on the debates for adoption by all member states at the Agriculture Council, on 17-18 March.
