A few days before the official start of winter, the EU has confirmed it will maintain aid for its most deprived citizens beyond 2013. MEPs agreed, on 28 November, on the regulation on the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD) for the period 2014-2020. Unlike the previous fund, which was uniquely a food distribution programme, FEADawill be expanded to include two operational programmes designed to provide food distribution aid and basic material assistance, and also social inclusion measures.
