ALCATEL AND THOMSON-MULTIMEDIA CREATE NEW WORLD-LEADER.
Alcatel (telecommunications hardware) and Thomson-Multimedia (consumer electronics) announced the creation on July 20 of a joint subsidiary in residential telephony, establishing a new world-leader in the sector. The two groups will exercise equal control over the joint venture which will be managed by Thomson Multimedia (TMM) and is expected to have a turnover of Euro 776.6 million from estimated sales of 25 million units.
