COMMON AGRICULTURAL POLICY REFORM : AGRI APPROVES DRAFT TRANSITIONAL MEASURES FOR CAP IN 2014.

The European Parliament's Committee on Agriculture (AGRI) has approved without amendments the political agreement, reached on 23 October, on transitional measures for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in 2014, paving the way for the plenary vote next month. Commenting on the outcome of the three-way negotiations, EP rapporteur Albert Dess (EPP, Germany) said that "with little exceptions, all proposals by Parliament have been integrated in the final agreement with Council". He welcomed the fact that the compromise will allow for the continuation of financing in 2014 of almost all 2007-2013 programmes, such as those targeted at young farmers or the early retirement schemes.
