ARIANE 143 MISSION CARRYING INTELSAT-902 A SUCCESS.

The geostationary telecommunications satellite Intelsat-902, was placed in orbit on September 30 by an Ariane-4 rocket launched from the Kourou space station in French Guiana, according to a statement from Arianespace headquarters in Evry, France. For launch 143, the sixth this year, the European launcher used was an Ariane 44-L (Ariane-4 fitted with supplementary liquid fuel rockets). The second 9 series satellite, Intelsat-902, is the nineteenth launch entrusted to Arianespace by the international satellite telecommunications organisation Intelsat, which has its headquarters in Washington. Intelsat-901 was placed in orbit in June by Ariane launch 141.Built by Space Systems/Loral in Palo Alto (California), Intelsat-902 will be placed, following a series of manoeuvres in flight, in a geostationary orbit (36,000 above the equator).
