* Filling the IT skills gap in Europe:Using the Internet to help to get personnel with IT skills into the best position will be just one of the themes of the forthcoming event entitled "On-line recruitment in the e-economy: turning Europe's jobs strategy into reality", taking place in Brussels on 20 February. The event will be attended by European Employment and Social Affairs Commissioner Anna Diamantopoulou, as well as representatives from the private sector, NGOs and academia. Debates will focus on issues such as recruiting across borders, the effect of the EU's immigration policy on skills availability and the role of online recruitment in the employment sector. With this in mind, the 'research to reality' conference in Luxembourg sponsored by the innovation policy unit of the European Commission's DG Enterprise on 22 February will aim to bring together some key players to exchange ideas and practices. The event will also see the launch of the unit's latest initiative, the 'Incubator financing network', which aims to create a permanent network offering projects and infant companies information about funding opportunities. Research to reality aims to bring together transfer technology professionals, research institutes and universities, seed stage financiers and incubator managers and policy makers to discuss the various elements required to 'spin out' research success.
