* ELECTRONIC IMAGING EVENT IN THE VISUAL ARTSEVA Florence 2001 'Electronic Imaging and the Visual Arts' will run from 26 to 30 March 2001. The annual event includes a conference, training sessions and a workshop, and should provide a forum for the user, supplier and scientific research communities to meet and exchange experiences, ideas and plans. This year, EVA is supported by the European Commission's EVAN project in association with the Electronic publishing information focal point (EPIFOCAL) and will provide up to date information on new EU and international arts computing and telecom initiatives. It includes case studies of leading edge applications in museums, galleries, libraries and education, integrated digital archives for cultural heritage and modern art and the impact of new technology in conservation and education to global access.The event expects to attract senior representatives of the cultural sector, especially the visual arts community, government, media and related sectors, the ITC industry, tourism and technology and visual arts research organisations. In addition, an open conference focused on protecting digital assets will be held on the final day. The session will feature presentations on security and watermarking and copyright access and licensing. The conference concerns new methods of promoting the IST programme to the Commonwealth of independent states.
