* World Symposium of Information Technologies postponedDue to the current crisis in the New Economy, the Third World Symposium of Information Technologies, which was due be held in Paris from 2 to 4 May 2001, has been postponed until the autumn. The event's organisers explain that bad economic and financial news over recent months has led various sponsors to withdraw. In the current political and trade union climate in France, the organisers feared that it would not have been possible to stage the event as it had been in the past.* Strengthening Euro-Chinese co-operationA forum aiming to strengthen ties between European companies and Chinese organisations in the information society sector will be held in Beijing, China on 16-20 April 2002. Attending the opening ceremony will be the Commissioner for Enterprise and Innovation, Erkki Liikanen, Chinese Minister of Science and Technology, Zhu Lilan, and the Chinese Minister of the Information Industry, Wu Jichuan. Participants will be able to attend free coaching sessions in Brussels during February 2002, which will provide attendees with information and advice on developing commercial relations with Chinese partners.* IST Programme is calling for contributions to help define future activities CORDIS, the European Commission's research and development information service, is hosting a new facility to help shape the upcoming Framework Programme 2002-2006.
