* EU Council of Ministers: Transport/Telecommunications

A Transport/Telecommunications Council of Ministers will take place in Brussels on March 27 and 28. Among the telecommunications points on the agenda are:

- proposal for a directive on re-using public sector information (political agreement)

- Commission report on the eEurope 2002 plan (debate)

- Report on the barriers to new services and applications in the Information Society through open platforms in digital television and GBPG mobile communications (Commission presentation).

* Workshop on industry applications

A workshop will take place on April 7 in Paris to examine research projects financed by the EU in the field of the software packages of management in industry. This event aims to promote and distribute the results of European partnerships between industrial companies and research centres. It relates in particular to two projects of technologies of the Company of information (TSI), financed with funds from the Fifth Framework programme (FP5), in which solutions were worked out for data processing.

* The Hague hosts conference on culture ICTs

A conference on culture and information and communication technologies (ICTs) entitled Eudialogue@culture will take place in The Hague on 27 and 28 March.

The role of ICTs in the development of a viable information society in Europe cannot be underestimated. To be able to fully develop the use of ICT, both the awareness and knowledge of all those involved need to be strengthened.

The conference aims to create a forum for discussion of policy and research at local, national and European level in the field of culture and ICT, and to promote a European network of excellence.

The event is being organised by the Eurocities culture committee, which acts as a platform for policy and project development, and for the exchange of good practices on cultural issues.
