* Symposium on innovation technology and nanotechnologies

A symposium on innovation technologies and nanotechnologies will be held under the auspices of the Italian Presidency in Brussels on November 3. The event will bring together representatives of both academia and industry to discuss the latest developments in the fields of innovation technology and nanotechnologies.

The programme includes the following subjects:

- innovation technology in the electronics industry and its impact on world development;

- national scenarios on advanced technology;

- new chemical approaches for preparation of nanostructured materials for functional applications;

- micro and optoelectronic devices and systems for better environment, health and security;

- carbon nanotubes: basic materials for the technologies of the 21st century;

- advanced optoelectronic technologies for telecommunications.

* The latest developments in the field of embedded software

A conference on embedded software and real time systems will take place on November 24 and 25 in Bilbao, Spain. The event will present the latest developments in this area, as well as best practices, with a view to demonstrating how the introduction of testing and quality can help reduce development and maintenance costs. The conference will be attended by more than 700 participants, from industry decision makers to testing professionals and university specialists.

* Ireland hosts IT&T 2003 conference

IT&T 2003, a leading annual event for the telecoms sector, will be held in Letterkenny, Ireland, on October 22 and 23. The event enables researchers to meet peers, establish contacts and review research opportunities in the telecommunications industry.
