* Research and innovation

"Research and Innovation: A European Strategy for more growth and jobs" will be the theme of the third European business summit on March 11 and 12, in Brussels, Belgium, jointly hosted by the European Commission, UNICE, the Federation of enterprises in Belgium and the Bruxelles-capitale region. Speakers at the event will include commissioners Philippe Busquin, Antonio Vitorino, Margot Wallstrom and Erkki Liikanen, and a host of leaders from European business (Astraeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Solvay, EADS) and professional associations (CIAA, etc..).

* NEST information day in Denmark

An information meeting on the new and emerging science and technology (NEST) activity of the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6), including the activity's second call for proposals, will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on February 4. The event will include a presentation by one of the European Commission's scientific officers, as well as an overview of FP6 instruments.

* Conference on artificial intelligence

An international conference on computational intelligence will be held from February 11 to 13 in Canakkale, Turkey. The main goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and related fields. Of interest to AI researchers, theoreticians, developers, engineers, and practitioners, the event will cover a range of issues in computational intelligence, modelling, control and automation. Both theoretical and applied papers will be presented.
