*ITU Regional Radiocommunication Conference:

The International Telecommunications Union(ITU) is organising a Regional Radiocommunication Conference (RRC 04) from May 10 to 28 to address the technical basis for the planning of the digital radio and television terrestrial broadcasting service in the frequency bands 174-230 MHz and 470-862 MHz for parts of Region 1 (Europe and Africa) and Region 3 (Asia and Australasia). This is the first ITU conference of its kind in fifteen years to deal with the planning of a terrestrial service. ITU's mission is to ensure that all countries get equitable access to the radio-frequency spectrum. This is achieved through world and regional radiocommunication conferences.

*IST Mobile and Wireless Communication Summit in Lyons:

The European Commission is organising the 13th IST Summit (information society technologies) on mobile and wireless communications in Lyons, France, from June 27 to 30. This event aims to present the results of EU IST initiatives financed in the 5th Framework Programme (FP5), as well as to communicate details on upcoming projects under FP6. More specifically, the objectives are as follows:

- to examine future prospects for mobile and wireless technologies and systems;

- to identify new business opportunities;

- and to discuss the future roles of all stakeholders involved in Information Society Technologies (academia, research centres, companies, SMEs, etc.).
