* Conference on complex systems in view of bringing IST projects together - Turin, Italy

A conference on complex systems will be held in Turin, Italy, from December 5 to 8, bringing together all the projects funded within the complex systems initiative of the future and emerging technologies unit of the Information Society Technology activity area under the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6). The conference is also open to researchers that are active in the field of complex systems.

The programme includes a range of talks in biology, physics, social sciences, maths and computer science and in fields of application, particularly Information Technology (IT). Separate sessions on complex biosystems, emergence of co-ordinated behaviour, complex system ideas in networks and interdisciplinary complex systems will also be held.

* Course on computational systems biology - Trieste, Italy

The European Symbionic project, funded as a specific support action under FP6, is organising a course on computational systems biology of the neuronal cell in Trieste, Italy, from December 6 to 10.

The course aims to:

- train young scientists in the field of computational systems biology of the neuron;

- ensure that they will be able to integrate different exhaustive models into a larger framework, in the perspective of a comprehensive in-silico representation of a neuron.
