* Workshop on IST programmes under the 6th FP: The Riga Technical University (Latvia) is organising a workshop entitled "IST 6th Framework programme - great opportunity for cooperation and collaboration" to take place on April 6 and 7. The workshop aims at strengthening scientific and technological cooperation and collaboration among EU countries in field of information technology (IT) applications for a new working environment, e-learning, e-logistics and digital cultural and scientific resources. It will also show how IST activities can facilitate collaboration between Latvia and other EU Member States. The main goal of the workshop is to increase awareness of the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) and forthcoming FP7 through lesson learned from the participation of Baltic States in previous IST programmes.

* Electronic communications conference: The European Radiocommunications Office is organising a conference on radio and non-radio electronic communications to take place in Barcelona, Spain, on April 13 and 14.

The issues discussed will include the challenges with which regulators are faced in a converging telecom world; wireless issues (UWB, broadcasting, spectrum reform); VoIP, next generation networks and competition-based regulatory approaches.

* Conference on technological innovation and regional cohesion in a wider Europe: The European regions knowledge based innovation (ERIK) network, the innovating regions in Europe (IRE) network and the Malopolska region are organising a conference on 'technological innovation and regional cohesion in a wider Europe' that will take place on April 21 and 22 in Krakow, Poland. The event will focus on two main topics: the importance of innovation policies for regional competitiveness, and the role played by innovative business incubators.
