* Malta hosts information day on ISTs

The Malta Council for Science and Technology is hosting a half-day information event intended to explain the European Commission's proposals for the second call of research support in IST that comes into effect on the 17 June 2003. The Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) is the vehicle through which the Commission channels research funding, and during this event participants will learn how this funding mechanism operates in practice. Practical help will also be given for those who wish to join research consortia or find partners for their own proposal. As well as this new call, an information brief on the current call of the eContent initiative will be given.

Benefits of taking part in the IST and eContent Programmes include:

u the sharing of project risks and costs shared between successful participants and the European Commission;

u the commercial exploitation of results and other Intellectual Property Rights accruing from project collaboration;

u opportunities to influence the Commission's policy and development of standards;

u making contacts with partners in Europe that can facilitate access to new markets through a better understanding of European business in the Single Market.

* International Brokerage Event on Information & Communication Technologies (ICT), Trieste

This event is designed to foster scientific and industrial co-operation and research results valorisation and transfer in the ICT sector according to support measures offered by the new European Research Framework Programme (FP6).

The main focus will be on some specific topics of the IST Programme 2o call Key Actions namely:

* open development platforms for software and services;

* cognitive systems;

* application and services for the mobile user and worker.

Specific interventions will deal with 'Researcher Mobility' and 'Universities co-operation Initiatives'. The Event foresees a session dedicated to R&D Projects Proposals Presentations followed by bilateral meetings, pre-arranged on the basis of the On-Line Project Proposals Catalogue which will be constantly updated and visible at the TriCo Event Official web page (available in the next future).
