* BioSec Workshop: Biometrics in every-day applications - Brussels, Belgium

The BioSec consortium will hold its second open workshop in Brussels from January 19-20, with the theme "Biometrics in every-day applications".

BioSec is an Integrated Project launched under the Information Society Technologies Priority (part of the 6th Framework Programme). BioSec workshops are designed to promote networking between the key players in Europe, such as European biometrics and security groups.

The BioSec consortium is still in its first year of existence. The workshop will include an exhibition area for the latest research results.

* Conference on Radio Frequency Identification - Paris, France

A conference on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and its applications will take place in Paris from June 15-16, 2005. The conference is organised in conjunction with the GES Convention (geolocalisation and embedded services).

* ICT 21 Forum - The contribution of Information and Communication Technologiesato sustainable development - Valenciennes, France

On February 3 and 4 in Valenciennes (France), international professionals will look at ICTs' contribution to sustainable development. They will tackle various themes such as digital illiteracy, TV of tomorrow, eco-design for ICTs, etc.

As an international forum TIC21 will also be the official UNITAR (UN) site forapreparing contributions for the next international summits: the Second World Summit of Cities and Local Authorities on the Information Society, to be held in Bilbao, from November 9-11, 2005; and the second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society, to be held in Tunis from November 16-18, 2005.

TIC 21 will also:

* be an introduction to databases, information and telematic applications, materials, methods, training solutions;

* help to resolve human and technological problems concerning system compatibility;

* be a forum to share expertise on joint initiatives between various groups, companies, associations, media, etc.
