CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The General Court is one of two courts making up the Court of Justice of the European Union. Its task consists in, inter alia, reviewing the legality of acts of the institutions and bodies of the European Union. Proceedings brought before the General Court therefore reflect the activities of those institutions and bodies. In addition, it is proposed that the jurisdiction of the General Court be extended to requests for preliminary rulings made under Article 267 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union in certain specific areas.

The General Court will soon be appointing its Registrar, pursuant to the fourth subparagraph of Article 254 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and Article 32 of the Rules of Procedure of the General Court.

The appointment will be for a period of 6 years from the date of taking office, which should preferably be 1 May 2023.

I. NATURE OF DUTIES

Under the authority of the President of the General Court, the Registrar is responsible for the acceptance, transmission and custody of all documents and for effecting service as provided for by the Rules of Procedure of the General Court.

The Registrar assists the Members of the General Court in all their official functions.

The Registrar has custody of the seals and is responsible for the records. The Registrar is in charge of the publications of the General Court, in particular, the European Court Reports, and of the dissemination on the Internet of documents concerning the General Court.

The Registrar is responsible, under the authority of the President of the General Court, for the administration of the General Court, its financial management and its accounts, and is assisted in this by the departments of the Court of Justice of the European Union.

The Registrar is responsible for a department of approximately 70 officials and agents. The duties of the Registrar require proven managerial ability demonstrated by relevant experience in this area.
