CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR ENERGY, ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME.

As part of the Fifth RTD Framework Programme of the European Community for RTD, a new round of calls for proposals for the specific programme on Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development (EESD) has begun. The Commission published two calls for proposals, on November 18, relating to the part A of the programme (environment and sustainable development). One of the calls (EESD-ENV-99-ENRICH) concerns ENRICH, the European Network for Research into Global Change, described under the 'coordination and horizontal activities; international RTD cooperation' section of the EESD work programme (in Annex II). A total of Euro 233 million will be available in 2000 for the proposals made in response to the call. The other, recently opened, call for proposals (EESD-ENV-99-2) relates to proposals with a fixed deadline (Shared Cost Actions, Thematic Networks and Concerted Actions) and proposals called by a continuous submission scheme.Part 1 of this call for proposals is submitted at a deadline and covers the following subsections of the key actions:- Key action 1: "Sustainable Management and Quality of Water"- Key action 2: "Global change, climate and biodiversity"- Key action 3: "Sustainable marine ecosystems":- Key action 4: "City of tomorrow and Cultural...
