CARTELS : COURT SCALES DOWN FINES ON INNOLUX AND LG DISPLAY.

InnoLux and LG Display are relieved: the fines imposed on them for their participation in a cartel were scaled down, on 27 February, by the EU General Court, which ruled that the amounts set by the European Commission in 2010 were based on miscalculations (Cases T91/11 and T-128/11).

On 8 December 2010, the EU executive fined six South Korean and Taiwanese manufacturers of liquid crystal display (LCD) panels a total of 648.925 million for operating a cartel from October 2001 to February 2006.

InnoLux and LG Display brought an action for annulment or reduction of the fines before the General Court. In its ruling of 27 February, the court rejects most of the arguments advanced by InnoLux and LG Display and upholds the substance of the Commission's decision. However, it slightly reduces the fines imposed on both companies.
