The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published on its website a list of the 150,000 substances pre-registered between 1 June and 1 December 2008 by 65,000 companies. Under the REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) Regulation, the agency is obliged to make public, by 1 January 2009, an initial version of this list. (1)

Considering the huge number of files submitted - 2.75 million pre-registrations for around 150,000 substances - the agency adds that it will continue its screening process for the substances during the end-of-year period and that a complete and updated list will be published at a later date.
