CONSULTATION ON REAL-TIME TRAFFIC INFORMATION SERVICES.

The European Commission has launched a public consultation, which will last until 14 March, on real-time traffic information in the EU. The results could lead to a legislative proposal on the provision of such data, under Directive 2010/40/EU on intelligent transport services (ITS). The consultation will question road users on the use of traffic information (on the marking of accidents, speed limits in force, alternative routes, aetc) and its reliability and availability, types of data that could complement the information currently available, and cooperation between public authorities and service providers on providing data.
