The EU's Year of Intercultural Dialogue is expected to be used by the Slovenian Presidency as an opportunity to promote relations with the Western Balkans countries.

One of the main events hosted by the Presidency will be a meeting to develop cultural cooperation between South-East Europe and the EU. The aim is to provide opportunities to develop joint activities that will be discussed by professionals involved in the field. Participants from 31 countries are currently scheduled to attend the meeting, which takes place on 12-13 June.

The Slovenian Presidency will, in addition, host the official launch event for the year, which is also expected to involve participants from the Balkan countries. This will take place in Ljubljana on 7-8 January.
