10 CURRENT BEST PRACTICES

On 20 December 2019, the Government approved a new five-year action plan, covering

the period 2019-2024, for the implementation of the UNCRPD.

This plan was developed by the Ministry of Integration and Family, in close consultation

with other ministerial departments, associations and various other actors concerned as

well as with the Higher Council for People with Disabilities (CSPH) and the Action Plan

Steering Group.

The choice of subjects was made by the CSPH together with the steering group, as these

two consultative bodies are mainly composed of people with disabilities and representatives

of associations from and for people with disabilities.

The two bodies decided to focus on eight themes considered as priorities:

- awareness;

- recognition of legal personality under the condition of equality;

- living independently and inclusion in society;

- freedom of expression and opinion and access to information;

- education;

- health;

- work and employment;

- participation in political and public life.
