CYBER SECURITY : SECURITY GUIDE FOR SMART GRIDS.

The European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) presented a strategy to defend smart grids (see box) against cyber attacks, on 30 January.

In a report entitled 'Smart grid threat landscape and good practice guide'(1), the agency analyses risks and identifies ways to defend smart grids against threats of attack.

The report was drafted in collaboration with industry experts, including the German firm Elster, a former division of the Swedish group ABB, and the French group Alstom.

The originality of the study lies in the identification of threats stemming from different agents acting as cyber criminals and in its analysis of the risks of potential damage resulting from these threats.
