(1) El Convenio Internacional del Aceite de Oliva y las Aceitunas de Mesa de 2015 (en lo sucesivo, «Convenio») fue firmado en nombre de la Unión, de conformidad con la Decisión (UE) 2016/1892 del Consejo (1), el 18 de noviembre de 2016 en la sede de las Naciones Unidas en Nueva York, a reserva de su celebración en una fecha posterior. El Convenio entró en vigor provisionalmente el 1 de enero de 2017, de conformidad con su artículo 31, apartado 2.
(2) La celebración del Acuerdo se realizó el 17 de mayo de 2019 en virtud de la Decisión (UE) 2019/848 del Consejo (2).
(3) Según el artículo 29 del Convenio, corresponde al Consejo de Miembros del Consejo Oleícola Internacional (en lo sucesivo, «Consejo de Miembros») determinar las condiciones de la adhesión de un Gobierno al Convenio.
(4) El Gobierno de la República de Uzbekistán ha solicitado formalmente la adhesión al Convenio. Procede, por lo tanto, invitar al Consejo de Miembros, en una futura sesión de este o en el marco de un procedimiento de adopción de decisiones por el Consejo de Miembros mediante intercambio de correspondencia, a establecer las condiciones de adhesión de la República de Uzbekistán por lo que atañe a las cuotas de participación en el COI y al plazo para el depósito del instrumento de adhesión.
(5) Dado que la República de Uzbekistán está desarrollando sus sectores oleícolas en lo que se refiere al consumo y tiene previsto desarrollar asimismo la producción, su adhesión bajo determinadas condiciones podría reforzar al COI, en particular en lo que se refiere a la consecución de la...
