DENMARK SET TO AUCTION OFF FOUR UMTS LICENCES.

The Danish Research and Information Technology Minister and his British consultants announced on 28 February that four third-generation mobile telephony (UMTS) licences are due to be sold by auction during the course of 2001. The exact date has yet to be decided upon. The Minister and the British consultancy firm N M Rothschild and Sons report that the Danish telecommunications market can handle four UMTS licences and no more.
