DEUTSCHE POST THREATENING FAIR COMPETITION, SAYS EEO.

The European Express Organisation (EEO) has called on the European Commission and the German Government to act, following the news announced by Deutsche Post AG to make an offer for Swiss-based international freight forwarder, Danzas. The EEO's chief role is to ensure fair competition in the postal sector and the organisation has responded to the news of the proposed takeover bid by denouncing the move: "The EEO has no doubts that Deutsche Post AG's latest acquisition poses a very serious threat to the goal of fair competition in a fully liberalised European postal market". The EEO Chairman also warned that "Deutsche Post AG has yet again returned from a Christmas shopping spree, using monopoly money. The threat to consumers and businesses alike is daunting", said Jaap Mulders.
