(1) La Directiva 2011/65/UE obliga a los Estados miembros a garantizar que los aparatos eléctricos y electrónicos que se introduzcan en el mercado no contengan las sustancias peligrosas enumeradas en su anexo II. Esa restricción no afecta a determinadas aplicaciones exentas que figuran en el anexo III de dicha Directiva.
(2) Las categorías de aparatos eléctricos y electrónicos a las que se aplica la Directiva 2011/65/UE figuran en su anexo I.
(3) El mercurio es una de las sustancias restringidas enumeradas en el anexo II de la Directiva 2011/65/UE.
(4) Mediante la Decisión 2010/571/UE (2), la Comisión concedió, entre otras cosas, una exención para el uso de mercurio en otras lámparas de (vapor de) sodio de alta presión para usos generales de alumbrado («exención»), que ahora figura como exención en las entradas 4.c)-I, 4.c)-II y 4.c)-III del anexo III de la Directiva 2011/65/UE.
