The EMPL committee chose to back the future rules, despite some significant concessions to the Council

The text may not be perfect, but it is certainly better than nothing: this seemed to be the general consensus among MEPs before adopting, on 18 March, the draft implementing directive on the posting of workers. "While the agreement doesn't solve everything, it is already a victory against several drifts and social dumping in Europe," said the Socialist party's French delegation in a release. In total, 30 MEPs voted in favour of the text, whereas 11 were against it.

During the three-way talks, MEPs managed to impose their views on one of the three most important provisions, namely the introduction of an indicative and non-exhaustive list of criteria to identify a genuine posting situation (and also to uncover false self-employment).
