ENERGY : MARKED INCREASE IN EU GAS PRICES.

According to the latest estimates published by Eurostat, the price of gas in the EU-25 went up on average by 20% for households and 29% for industrialaconsumers between July 2005 and July 2006.

Gas prices for households went up in all EU member states except Hungary. The largest price increasesaoccurred in Lithuania (43%), Latvia (38%) and Denmark (34%). Prices of gas for domestic use dropped slightlyain Hungary (less than 1%) and remained stable in Croatia.
