EU LOOKING AT MIDDLE-EAST TYPE ASSOCIATION AGREEMENT WITH UKRAINE?

Ukraine's wish for closer integration with the EU still looks far short of realisation, to judge by the tone of recent high-level talks in Brussels on December 8. A visit by Ukraine's Foreign Minister to the European Commissioner for External Relations, Hans van den Broek, resulted in a meeting which was described as "constructive" and "useful". But senior officials from Ukraine went away with the feeling that if the EU does go further than the current Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and the soon-to-be-discussed Free Trade Agreement, it would be in terms of an Agreement along the lines of those the EU has with countries...
