Loyola de Palacio, Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner responsible for Transport and Energy, and Philippe Busquin, Commissioner responsible for research, visited the European Space Agency's (ESA) Research and Technology Centre in Noodwijk, the Netherlands, on February 7. They discussed matters of common interest with ESA Director General Antonio Rodota and senior management, including the Galileo satellite navigation programme ad monitoring hazardous cargo movements at sea.The Commission and the ESA have already begun elaborating a joint European space strategy.
