sobre el plan de evacuación de los residuos radiactivos producto de la primera fase del desmantelamiento del reactor A3 de la central nuclear de Chinon, situada en Francia, de conformidad con el artículo 37 del Tratado Euratom

La evaluación que figura a continuación se realiza conforme a las disposiciones del Tratado Euratom, sin perjuicio de que se realice cualquier otra evaluación conforme al Tratado de Funcionamiento de la Unión Europea y las obligaciones resultantes de él y del Derecho derivado.
El 7 de junio de 2011, la Comisión Europea recibió del Gobierno francés, de conformidad con el artículo 37 del Tratado Euratom, los datos generales sobre el plan de evacuación de los residuos radiactivos producto de la primera fase de desmantelamiento del reactor A3 de la central nuclear de Chinon, en Francia.
En función de esos datos y previa consulta al grupo de expertos, la Comisión ha elaborado el siguiente dictamen:
1) La distancia entre la central nuclear y la frontera más cercana con otro Estado miembro, en este caso el Reino Unido, es de 384 km. Bélgica es el segundo Estado miembro más cercano, a una distancia de 426 km. España y Luxemburgo se encuentran a 460 km y 494 km, respectivamente.
2) Durante las operaciones normales de desmantelamiento no es probable que los vertidos de efluentes líquidos y gaseosos afecten a la salud de la población de otro Estado miembro.
3) Los residuos radiactivos sólidos se almacenan temporalmente in situ antes de ser transferidos a instalaciones autorizadas de tratamiento o evacuación situadas en Francia. No hay planes para exportar los residuos radioactivos fuera de Francia.
