Aer the First World War, Britain was faced with reintegrating millions of soldiers,
many of them carrying horric physical and mental disabilities. One project has been
examining the experiences of disabled returnee soldiers and their carers, providing
intriguing insights into how gender roles and societal norms were altered in the years
immediately following the end of the war… and beyond.
