FILM INDUSTRY CALLS FOR INCREASED FUNDING.

Representatives of the European film industry attending a colloquium on the cinema economy in Europe on December 11, called on the European Union to increase funding by Euro 15 billion to help the sector meet the challenge of the American industry. Highlighting a problem of under-capitalisation of the European film industry, Michel Gyory, President of the European Centre for Research and Information on Cinema, Audiovisuals and Multimedia (CERICA) which staged the colloquium, emphasised the need to reassess the distribution of European films.
