FIRST CALL FOR PROJECTS FOR ITEA-2.

The First Call for Projects for ITEA-2 (Information Technology for European Advancement) opens on February 2, 2006. ITEA-2 is the successor to ITEA as part of EUREKA, a pan-European programme for advanced pre-competitive R&D in software for Software-intensive Systems and Services (SiS). The aim of ITEA-2 is to mobilise a total of 20,000 person-years over the full eight-year duration (double that of ITEA), requiring a significant increase in investment level of up to euro 3 billion.

ITEA-2 has wide support from technological companies in Europe including Airbus Industrie, Alcatel, Barco, Bosch, Bull, DaimlerChrysler, Italtel, Nokia, Philips, Siemens, Telvent, Thales and Thomson.

The programme is open to an extensive range of partners including SMEs, industry and a final group from research institutes and universities. ITEA-2 projects are bottom-up, industry-driven initiatives, involving complementary R&D efforts from at least two companies in two different countries.
