FRANCOPHONE DEVELOPMENT FUND FOR INFORMATION HIGHWAYS ESTABLISHED

On June 9, the Agence de la francophonie announced the creation of a francophone development fund for information highways to be allocated FF40 million per year, making good on a pledge by Heads of State and Government of the 13 French-speaking countries in Hanoi in November 1997. The fund will serve to finance individual projects brought forward by companies and organisations in member countries, promoting a North-South partnership.
