Swiss employers are insisting upon the necessary renewal and extension to Bulgaria and Romania of the agreements with the EU on the free movement of persons, which give European nationals the right to work in the confederation. Failure to do so would be "disastrous for several companies," especially in this time of financial and economic crisis, and "job losses and relocations should be anticipated," warned the employers' federation Economiesuisse, on 7 January, in a joint communication with the Union suisse des paysans, the Union patronale suisse and the Union suisse des arts et metiers.
