GARCIA-MARGALLO AND MENDEZ DE VIGO JOIN NEW SPANISH GOVERNMENT.

Two members of the European Parliament were invited by new Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy to join the government. Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo and Inigo Mendez de Vigo, both from the EPP, were appointed, respectively, foreign minister and secretary of state for the European Union in the government that was sworn in on 22 December 2011. Both were long-standing MEPs, having joined the Parliament in 1994 and 1992, respectively.
