GERMAN PUBLIC OPINION FINALLY COMES OUT IN FAVOUR OF THE SINGLE CURRENCY.

With just two weeks to go before the arrival of the single European currency, a slight majority of German public opinion is, for the first time, in favour of the introduction of the Euro. The results of a survey published in the daily Handelsblatt on November 11 reveal that some 43% of the German public favours the adoption of the Euro, against 41% which remains firmly opposed. According to the monthly survey, which is carried out by the Psephos Institute, there has been a marked swing in German public opinion in the course of the past twelve months in favour of the single currency.
